Anna Taneburgo  B.S.W., M.Ed., R.S.W.

About Anna

Anna Taneburgo's training embraces both Western and Eastern modalities.  She has a Bachelor of Social Work (McMaster University) and Master of Adult Education (University of Toronto).  She is also a trained Reiki Master, Kripalu Yoga Teacher and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher. 

Anna has over 30 years in health care, which includes counselling and education work in area hospitals, and establishing a nationally acclaimed hospital-based holistic staff wellness program.  Her experience is enhanced by her explorations of complementary healing practices, and her quest to bridge conventional and complementary medicine has led to the Whole Healing Model. 

Anna's work has been featured in national publications and she has been a popular speaker at national conferences.  In her own practice, Anna works with individuals intent on resolving their emotional issues and living a more authentic life.  She also teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for healthcare professionals through McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences.

Anna has trained with some of the top names in energy work today - Mietek Wirkus, the most scientifically studied energy healer in North America; Libby Barnett, Master Teacher of over 7,000 Reiki practitioners in the U.S. and Canada;  Ric Weinman, founder of Vortex Healing  She has also studied Brennan Healing Science.

At the Omega Institute in New York, Anna studied Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, who is internationally recognized for bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society.  She then went on to complete the Professional Practicum at the Centre for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre.  She has also been trained in Mindful Communication through the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Anna has attended numerous meditation retreats with the American Buddhist teacher Shinzen Young.  She has also attended retreats with the American Advaita Vedanta teacher, Adyashanti, and Canadian Vipassana teachers Norman Feldman and Molly SwanPhilip Starkman and Ajahn Viradhammo.  Anna has also studied with Dr. Stephane Treyvaud.

Anna received her certification as a yoga teacher at the Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health, in Lenox, Massachusetts. 

At Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, Anna has provided individual, couple and family counselling.  She currently provides mindfulness programs to staff/leadership. She coordinated and delivered staff wellness and development programs at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital.  At Halton Healthcare, comprising the Oakville, Milton and Georgetown hospitals,  Anna launched Kailo, a nationally recognized holistic staff wellness program.  She also facilitated Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programs (MBSR) for staff at both Joseph Brant and Halton Healthcare.  

Anna is a certified trainer in both True Colours and Personality Dimensions, which are tools for understanding personality types and differences.  She has facilitated dozens of workshops in healthcare and the community.

Anna has taught Human Relations courses at Mohawk and Sheridan Colleges; and served on faculty at the Mindfulness Centre in Oakville, where she taught yoga as a mindfulness practice.
